After more than a year in our YAMA Labs program, the DCF Bug Bivy is officially joining our standard lineup.
Our first test of this 0.67 oz DCF variant dates back to around 2017 on the PCT. We built a floor split down the middle: half 0.67 oz DCF and half the heavier 1 oz version we've previously used in production. Both use a thicker film on the outer face, where most abrasion happens; the 1 oz also has a thicker film on the inside and a higher yarn density. A hiker carried it the length of the trail to help us compare the materials. The 1 oz side made it without issue. The 0.67 oz side did surprisingly well, making it roughly half to two-thirds of the way before needing some minor repairs to finish the trail. We share this because we'd rather you know what you're working with.
We recommend pairing it with a polycro footprint: 0.67 DCF is more durable than it feels, but a footprint extends its life.
At 5.1 oz (145g) and $224.75, it's 31% lighter than our silpoly version.
It uses the same Y-zip as our silpoly bivy, with entry from the front or either side, and the dimensions are the same.
It pairs with the 1P and 2P Cirriform for a full double-wall system, and works with most A-frame tarps.
